You might think your best chance to build strength has passed, but the truth may surprise you
One of the questions I’m asked most often is:
"Is there any point in me starting strength training at my age?”
And my answer might surprise you.
While our bodies naturally change as we get older, that doesn’t mean we have to accept becoming weaker. In fact, with the right guidance and a little consistency, it’s never too late to become stronger, improve your balance and make everyday life feel easier.

Why Do We Lose Muscle As We Get Older?
As we age, it’s completely normal to lose muscle mass and strength. This process happens gradually and can become more noticeable after menopause.
You may find everyday tasks becoming a little harder than they used to be. Climbing the stairs, carrying the shopping, getting up from the floor or lifting your grandchildren can all take a little more effort.
The good news is that muscle responds to challenge at any age. While we may not build muscle as quickly as we did in our twenties, our bodies are still capable of becoming stronger.
So Much More Than Muscle
When people hear the words “build muscle”, they often imagine bodybuilders or spending hours in the gym. But that's not what Living Stronger is about.
For us, building strength means making everyday life easier. It’s about having the confidence to carry your own shopping, enjoying long walks without feeling exhausted, getting up from the floor with ease and keeping up with the grandchildren without worrying your body will let you down.
It’s Never Too Late to Start
Some of our members didn’t begin strength training until they were in their 60s, 70s or even 80s! Many of them told us they wished they’d started sooner, not because they wanted to change how they looked, but because of how much better they felt.
They’ve become stronger, more confident and more capable of doing the things they enjoy every day.
Your age doesn’t define what you’re capable of. The most important step is simply getting started.
