Walking is one of the best things you can do for your health, but could you be missing an important piece of the puzzle?

Walking is great for your heart, your mental wellbeing and getting you out into the fresh air. In fact, if you’re already walking regularly, you’re doing something brilliant for your health.

But if walking is the only form of exercise you do, you could be missing one of the most important ingredients for healthy ageing.

Getting stronger with age

What Walking Does Really Well

Walking can improve your cardiovascular health, boost your mood, increase your daily movement and help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. It’s also gentle on the joints and accessible to almost everyone.

At Living Stronger, we’re huge advocates for getting out for a walk whenever you can.

What Walking Can’t Do

As we get older, we naturally begin to lose muscle mass and strength. Unfortunately, walking alone isn’t enough to slow this process significantly.

Without some form of resistance or strength training, everyday tasks like climbing the stairs, carrying shopping or getting up from the floor can gradually become more difficult.

Our Beginners' Programme

If walking is already part of your routine, why not take the next step? Our Beginners Programme has been designed specifically for women who are new to strength training or returning to exercise after a break.

With Cherry guiding every session, easy-to-follow workouts and a welcoming community cheering you on, you’ll build strength safely and confidently from the comfort of your own home.

You don’t have to give up your daily walks. In fact, we encourage them. Simply add a little strength training alongside them, and your future self will thank you.

Future-Proof Your Body with Us

At Living Stronger, we often talk about future-proofing your body. That means making choices today that help you continue doing the things you love tomorrow.

Whether that’s travelling, playing with the grandchildren, gardening or simply staying independent, strength training helps prepare your body for whatever life brings.

Walking keeps you moving, but strength training helps keep you strong.
