What To Do When You Need a Break From Weights

Taking a break doesn’t mean losing your progress

We love strength training at Living Stronger, but that doesn’t mean you need to pick up your weights every single day.

Holidays, illness, busy weeks or simply feeling like your body needs a rest can all interrupt your usual routine. And that’s okay! A short break won’t undo all the hard work you’ve already put in.

Listen to your body 👂🏼

Some days you’ll have more energy than others. If you’re feeling particularly tired, run down or your body is telling you it needs a rest, listen to it.

Rest and recovery are an important part of getting stronger too.

Keep moving in other ways 🚶🏼‍♀️

Taking a break from weights doesn’t have to mean doing nothing.

Go for a walk, do some gardening, stretch, swim or simply keep moving throughout your day. Exercise doesn’t always need to look like a structured workout to count.

Don’t feel guilty 🙅🏻‍♀️

Missing a few sessions isn’t going to send you back to square one. Try not to put pressure on yourself to “make up” for missed workouts either.

When you’re ready, simply pick up where you left off and ease yourself back into your routine.

Ready to pick up those weights again? 🏋🏻‍♂️

Living Stronger is about building habits that work for real life, and sometimes real life means taking a break.

When you’re ready to get moving again, we’ll be right here. Join Living Stronger today and find a strength training programme that works for you.
